Melanesian Bamboo

A finely incised bamboo from the Solomon Islands that has been converted into a walking stick. The silver collar is inscribed “IN MEMI ? REV.J.HOLFORD.PLANT. MISSIONARY PRIEST IN MELANESIA” there are several pacific items in the Met with provenance to Holford. Pictured here is a stained glass window in Weston , dedicated to Holford.
