Axe

92. A very rare axe with an iron trade blade dating to the 19th century. There are some very tiny marks along the handle that are similar to those found on message sticks or could be a ‘Tally’ of some kind? There is comparable axe in the British Museums collections, museum number Oc1980,Q.727. They say that theirs is from the Kimberly region. This example looks more Queensland to me and came with the resin stick also listed on my site.
